The 53rd Season of Ballet Philippines invites the performance arts community to “Dance Where No One Else Has.” While the company dedicates endless hours in preparation for their return to the stage, Jemima Reyes takes where all the magic begins: behind-the-scenes.

The past two years of the pandemic have kept us all indoors. Even then, this has not stopped Ballet Philippines’ Core Dancers from dancing, performing, training and perfecting their craft. As the world slowly begins to open up, we start making room in our days for in person events, social gatherings, and live performances.

For Ballet Philippines, this means returning to the studios, rehearsal halls, and of course, the grand stage. This also entails a new chapter in dance, set within the context of the “Next Normal.” In this En Pointe feature, Jemima Reyes takes us backstage and behind the scenes. She shows us how the company has been preparing for a season of new beginnings and destinations. True to its theme, “Dance Where No One Else Has,” Ballet Philippines has just marked its first stop for the 53rd Season: The Next Normal.
