Ballet Philippines Is Recognized As A Pinoy Pride Awardee At The MEGA Ball

Ballet Philippines opened the show and awed audiences at the much-awaited Mega Ball, held last June 12, 2022, at the Manila Marriott Hotel. They were also honored and celebrated that night as one of their Pinoy Pride Awardees under the category of Arts and Culture.

Dancing to a unique mix of musical styles choreographed by Artistic Director Mikhail “Misha” Martynyuk, performers included Ballet Philippines’ own Brian Sevilla and Joan Sia, as well as Alexis Piel, Ma. Regina Magbitang, and Veronica Atienza from the Philippine Ballet Theatre as part of Ballet Philippines’ Guest Artist Program. This marks their first live performance in front of a large audience since lockdown.

The award was accepted by Ballet Philippines President Kathleen Liechtenstein who expressed: “this award bestowed to Ballet Philippines is both inspiring and empowering as we move on to our 53rd Season. It is a season where we aim to Dance Where No One Else Has–into a New Era”

Other awardees applauded by the creative community that night included notable Filipinos who have made a positive impact on our country’s ever-evolving culture: Olympic Gold Medalist Hidilyn Diaz, Iconic pop star Gary Valenciano, the Miss Universe organization, UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador and Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, as well as champions of Philippine crafts and sustainability Len Cabili and ArteFino.

MEGA Editor-in-Chief Peewee Isidro offered a few quick remarks on honoring Ballet Philippines, “We believe that the institution’s passion for the arts and dedication to uplifting the Filipino name are worth honoring and celebrating.”
