Dystopian Body

by
Joshua Serafin

Ballet Philippines explored the dystopian dance form to stage Dystopian Body, a performance that is concerned with a place where the body evolved despite the environment and conditions that do not provide the most basic needs of its citizens.

This body represents and acknowledges the conditions where we all find ourselves during this pandemic. This is a physical practice more than a piece. A reaction through embodiment of what is happening internally, individually but also finding representation in what we are all collectively experiencing. When everything stops--the body doesn’t.
